About the Department

The Visual Arts Department provides students with the means to explore visual media as a method of communication for ideas, thoughts and self-expression. Through a sequential course of study, students will create two and three- dimensional artworks, and explore the significance of art from cultures around the world and time periods throughout history. They will participate in individual, group, written and oral critiques of artistic works. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in school and community art exhibitions in addition to field trips to galleries, museums and art exhibitions. All courses are aligned with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, and have also integrated the Common Core State Standards.
