21st Century Life and Career Skills

About the Department

Dover High School offers a wide variety of elective courses in our 21st Century Life and Career Skills Department. These courses guide students to make informed decisions that prepare them to engage as active citizens in a complex global society and to successfully meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st-century workplace. Our courses offer students the opportunity to acquire hand-on experience in various areas of interest. The program focuses on providing students with skills that are transferred to the workplace.

Featured Courses

Culinary Arts

Culinary Arts is an introduction to basic nutrition and food preparation skills. Students use the decision making process to determine healthy food choices. Students explore safety and sanitation in the kitchen, as well as demonstrate food preparation techniques.

Child Development

This course will explore the basic physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development of children, in order to prepare for a role in the nurturing of children and to understand the role of a parent. The students will partake in the “Baby Think It Over” project.

Fine and Performing Arts

The Dover High School Fine and Performing Arts Academy is a comprehensive program designed for students with an interest in the arts and arts exploration.
