Dear Students, Staff, Parents, and Guardians, It is with a very heavy heart that I struggle to find the correct words to share such sad news with the Dover High School community. Earlier today we lost one of our beloved family members. After a long, courageous battle, senior Kaitlyn Blodgett has passed on to the next life. Kaitlyn attended Canfield Avenue School, Dover Middle School, and was a member of the Dover High School Class of 2019. Kaitlyn was a model student who strove to do her absolute best. She challenged herself in the classroom, was inducted into the National Honor Society, and fought the good fight during the last two years. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Kaitlyn’s family and friends. Members of the Guidance Department will be available and will work alongside Tiger RAP to meet with affected students individually or in small groups. Counselors will be available over the coming days and weeks to provide services as needed. Students may seek support in the guidance office, and parents can contact the school if you feel your child is in need of assistance or support. For more immediate support, Dover High School will be open Saturday, March 23rd. Counselors will be available to meet with students between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. Please use the front entrance to meet with a counselor. The following agencies are also available at any time now and in the future: 2ND Floor 24 Hour Confidential Hotline: 1-888-222-2228 National Life Line: 1-800-273-8255 As you know, teenagers use social media sites such as Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, etc. to communicate. It is likely they will use these sites to express their feelings about the passing of their friend and classmate. I recommend that you monitor your child’s online use for the next few weeks for messages that your child or a friend is significantly struggling with the loss of their peer. Information about the funeral service will be made available as soon as we have it. Please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the counselors with any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Robert N. Franks Principal
